When people talk about the vibrancy of Melbourne’s inner western suburbs, they’re often thinking about the cool little streets of Yarraville.
Once a working class suburb, the area dates back to the 1870’s and still features many of the weatherboard workers cottages that sprang up around the fishing, boating and manufacturing industries that employed the European newcomers who flocked to Yarraville and nearby Seddon and Footscray.
Today, given its proximity to the city, public transport, cafes, bars and the excellent Sun Theatre cinema, Yarraville is an awesome place to live, work and play.
That’s why we were proud to be involved in the Frankie Apartments construction… our brief was to manufacture and install steel work around an external staircase on this innovative new apartment block designed by cutting edge Melbourne architectural firm Ninety Four Feet and built by Hamilton Merino Builders.
Powder coating the frame not only gave it the look the architects were after, but will also help it weather the elements over time and ensure the structural integrity of the staircase is not compromised.
So far, we think it’s looking fantastic; but stay tuned, as we’re currently working on some architectural panels that will be added to the job in coming months.
